Question by Sam: Does anyone else think that David DeAngelo (famous dating guru) is a major douchebag?
I didn’t know much about this guy till recently. If you google his name you should see some examples of his writings and descriptions of who he is. Basically he writes advice for men on how to get women but what I can’t stand is the fact that he basically tells men that they should not be themselves and that they should act in a certain way, specifically a piggish, brutish, nasty, way in order to get women.

If a guy writes to him saying what am I doing wrong with this girl? and mentions that he might have said “I love you” to her or given her a compliment or something, he’ll say, “You’re a total wuss and you’ve blown all your chances with this girl. You need to stop being such a girly-man and grow a pair.” He also insists that women only ever develop attraction to a man from the second she first meets him, and that after that it’s impossible to make her attracted to you.

Which is bullsh*t. My gf wasn’t attracted to me when we first met but over time she became attracted to me and now she totally loves me and we’re really happy together. What really angers me about DeAngelo’s work is that he says that men must, not only when pursuing a woman but also once he has her, be cold and not give his girlfriend too many compliments or too much affection or attention. I think this is ridiculous and insane. I mean, a relationship is all about honesty, right? And about loving the other person?

If you’re always pretending to be someone else, and always holding back on how much you adore them, what is the point? The whole thing is a farce and you’re just treading on eggshells all the time. I wish this DeAngelo douchebag would f*ck off and die cos he’s a pig and he makes all men look bad, and he wants all men to be pigs like him. If he was just a sex guru and was trying to give guys tips on how to get a woman into bed for a one-night stand, fair enough, that would be honest, but don’t tell people how to act in a relationship and don’t tell us that you know how women think cos you clearly have less of a clue than the rest of us, @sshole.

I don’t agree with the opinions of everyone on the planet. Just because I disagree with them doesn’t make them a d-bag…
